I cannot describe its charm; I can only say sincerely:
When work becomes exhausting, just go to this town for two days! The secluded slow-paced life is enough to help you relax and heal your mental fatigue…
📍Zhaoxing Dong Village Located in the southeast of Guizhou, a Dong ethnic village near the border of Guizhou and Guangxi, has been repeatedly recognized by National Geographic as “one of the world’s most enticing tourist destinations.” 🎫Ticket: ¥75/person 🚄Transportation: Take the high-speed train from Jiang station, and there are shuttles available for ¥10/person just outside the station, taking 15 minutes to the Dong Village. Most accommodations in the village provide high-speed rail station transfers. Neighboring provinces (Chongqing, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, and Guizhou) can all be reached within 5 hours by high-speed train, making it feasible for weekend getaways.
✅Must-Visit Attractions: 1️⃣ Scenic Overlook With mountains surrounding the village, buildings nestled by the mountains and water, the scenic overlook at the entrance of the scenic area provides an unparalleled panoramic view. 2️⃣ Dong Architecture Characterized by drum towers and flower bridges, each drum tower is accompanied by a flower bridge. The entire village has five drum towers representing benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom, and trust. The areas around them are the best spots for photography. 3️⃣ Experience Batik Scarves, skirts, bags, and more can be DIYed with prices ranging from tens to over a hundred. Local batik is widespread, and traditional Dong ethnic clothing is made from natural dyes. 4️⃣ Ethnic Costume Photography The village has only one main street. Costume rentals on the main street are more expensive; consider looking in the back alleys along the river, where prices are only ¥40-50 per day.
🌀Two-Day Itinerary: I departed from Chongqing as a reference for everyone. Day 1: Saturday – Chongqing North ➠ From Jiang (8:40-13:29), check into the guesthouse, explore the village, do batik, and enjoy the night view. Day 2: Wear your own batik clothes or rent costumes for photos. Return in the afternoon, From Jiang ➠ Chongqing West (17:02-21:17).
💡Other Tips: ✔ The Dong Village is located in a mountainous area with a significant temperature difference between day and night. It’s advisable to bring a GORE-TEX three-in-one windproof and cold-resistant jacket, practical and warm. ✔️ Local cuisine mainly includes rice noodles, sour soup fish/beef, braised beef hot pot, grilled pork belly, sticky rice wrapped in leaves, handmade rice cakes, pine nut pastries, and oil tea. I tried a few places, and the prices were reasonable, and the taste was good.
