The renowned American writer Mark Twain once expressed his sentiments in his travel literary masterpiece, “The Equator Pilgrimage,” saying, “God created Mauritius first and then, based on the scenery of Mauritius, created paradise.”
🌈 For a spontaneous trip, the most crucial aspect is, of course, choosing comfortable hotels. Let me introduce four popular hotels in Mauritius for this journey: [Royal Palm + Four Seasons + Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok + Long Beach]
1️⃣ Royal Palm – Terrace Suite / Ctrip Price around $1,000/day
Beach ✩✩✩✩ Dining ✩✩✩✩ Service ✩✩✩✩✩
Royal Palm offers the best service. Although the beach is not as extensive as Shangri-La’s, the sea is crystal clear, the sand is soft, and there are very few people. The photos taken at that time didn’t capture anyone else; we posed casually. (Image three: complimentary champagne and fruit basket, and the fruit was eaten… Rich breakfast with no additional charges, and a 2 pm checkout. Note: No Chinese customer service/No poolside rooms
2️⃣ Four Seasons Anahita – Beach Pool Villa / $550/night
Beach ✩✩ Dining ✩✩✩✩ Service ✩✩✩✩✩ Pool ✩✩
Four Seasons is very popular on Ctrip with many positive reviews. However, it was quite disappointing when I visited. The pool is very small❗️❗️❗️, truly just palm-sized and can only create shapes. It has WeChat Chinese customer service (slightly like a robot) Note: Both sea and beach are relatively inferior, similar to Sanya Yalong Bay. I sincerely do not recommend Four Seasons.
3️⃣ Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok – Ocean Villa $800/night
Beach ✩✩✩✩✩ Dining ✩✩✩✩✩ Service ✩✩✩ Pool ✩✩✩✩
We stayed at Shangri-La for four days and genuinely loved this hotel. The private beach seems to be the most beautiful and largest in Mauritius, with white sand and a rarely crowded setting, allowing for casual posing. The pool is twice the size of Four Seasons, and we liked the decoration style. As there’s not enough space for pictures here, you can check Ctrip for room types and decorations. Note: Two Chinese customer service representatives on call. The service from Taiwan is really excellent and patient, while the other one is quite ordinary. The breakfast in the villa was rich and colorful for the first two days, but the next two days were very basic, with many items missing. We separately paid for breakfast, and when we inquired, we were told it was because we hadn’t finished all the food in the restaurant during the first two days, and they thought it was a waste. Hmm… For a breakfast costing over five hundred a day, I don’t think this is a valid reason to reduce the variety (though I don’t advocate waste).
4️⃣ Long Beach Hotel – Regular Room $350/night(Not recommended)
Beach ✩✩✩✩ Dining ✩✩ Service ✩
This hotel was booked out of necessity due to a flight delay, and when checking in at around 4-5 pm, we were told that the room was still being cleaned. During the room card handover, we were informed that there was no in-room dining, which I found surprising. Does a five-star hotel not have in-room dining? Later, we discovered that there was a menu, but it was hidden. I don’t know if it was discriminatory toward Chinese people. 😡 The beach is decent, but everything else is quite poor.
🚨 Important reminder: On this trip, my checked luggage back to China was lost, including a Rolex and several thousand in cash. When visiting Mauritius, be sure to take good care of your personal belongings!
